Istria Inspirit Istra Inspirit Istria Inspirit (Croatia) Istria (Istra), formerly Histria in Latin, is a triangular and the larg- est peninsula within the Adriatic Sea, most of which belongs to Croatia. It extends to the north- east of the Adriatic Sea, between the Gulf of Venice (west), the Gulf of Trieste (north) and the Gulf of Kvarner/Rijeka (east). The peninsula has an area of almost 3,500 square km whose northern part belongs to Slovenia, while the central, western, southern and eastern parts (90%) belong to Croatia. A small strip of coast in the north-west is the city of Trieste, Italy.
