Betina Museum of Wooden Shipbuilding Muzej betinske drvene brodogradnje / Betina Museum of Wooden Shipbuilding (Croatia) Betina is a small historical village of around eight hundred inhab- itants. Currently, the village main activity is tourism. The vil - lage of Betina is located on the island of Murter, a few kilo- metres away from a drawbridge which connects the island to the mainland. As the largest island of the Šibenik archipelago and the closest one to the mainland, Murter has been populated since the time of the Illyrians. The re - mains of Roman settlements testify to its occupation during the period of the Roman Empire. Betina has an outstanding repu- tation for its long tradition in wooden shipbuilding. Betina nowadays is one of the few re - maining centres of small wooden shipbuilding on the Cro- atian Adriatic and the Mediterranean seas.
